Although for many it has been the Summer holidays, here at Healthy Abode August has remained extremely busy responding to client's requests. Our office manager, Josie has been working hard, running the office dealing with enquiries, invoicing, booking jobs in and drafting reports. At times, this can be  logistical nightmare with August seeing Healthy Abode undertaking surveys throughout London, Kent, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and even one in Devon!

Despite the glorious sunshine, August has been busy with our damp surveyors undertaking pre-purchase surveys. Increasingly, mortgage providers valuation surveyors are highlighting potential defeects, then requiring an independent damp, timber & mould survey. At Healthy Abode our CSRT surveyors are reguarly called in, to undertake these surveys. This was the case in August, where we undertook a record number of pre-purchase damp reports, being carried out over London and East Anglia. We reguarly receive great praise, here's an example of one such testimonial that Stuart received :

“Healthy Abode produced a Damp and Timber report as requested by my lender. Their surveyor, Stuart, conducted a thorough inspection of the property inside and out, and identified the problem areas meticulously as well as the remedial actions required. Although the process was very technical and scientific, he explained his findings in a clear and accessible way. The resulting report more than met my expectations. It was very detailed and informative, and included a breakdown of repair costs. I was very impressed with Healthy Abode's professionalism throughout and would not hesitate to recommend them.” - Jon

We have also seen a rise in timber surveys this last month, which have been carried out both locally to the office in Sawbridgeworth and in London.Timber surveys require our surveyors to visit the property inspect timbers for signs of wood boring infestation, such as by Common Furniture Beetle or Death Watch beetle and then determine if the evidence is proof of a active or historic infestation. We alwasy give comprehensive written advice on how best to treat and eradicate wood boring infestations, where necessary.

Immigration accommodation Inspections and overcrowding assessments have been steadily carried out over the month. Even Josie, has used her surveying skills gained from working as a technical officer in a Local Authority Environmental Health department to carry out some of the surveys closer to the office in Herts & Essex! Hopefully she will continue to carry out these surveys in the coming months and become braver in driving in London traffic!!

Acoustic wise, we've undertaken BS4142 assessments in Edgeware and central London. These assessments have determined what acceptable level of noise a premises’ mechanical extraction plant is acceptable to produce, so as not to increase background sound levels. We've also been involved in sound testing the noise from shotgun blasts, at an Essex shooting school. In every case our acoustic reports are always tailored uniquely to each client's needs, so as to fit their planning application, where applicable recommended remedial treatments are specified

Finally, we have an opening for a CSRT qualified damp & mould surveyor to join Healthy Abode, the advert is live on the PCA website, so if you're interested in a career with a growing Environmental Health consultancy, please get in touch

Until next time! - Au Revoir
